Dr. Byron Torke

Dr. Byron Torke, a consultant with HML, Inc. (Hoosier Microbiological Laboratory), holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and a Master of Sciences (M.S.) in zoology and botany from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He was granted a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in zoology/limnology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Dr. Torke's expertise and consulting specialties include limnology, invertebrate zoology, entomology and crustacean biology, water pollution, lake management and restoration, aquatic invertebrate identification and ecology. He also is an expert on freshwater zooplankton, stream invertebrates, aquatic botany, aquatic and wetland plants and algae.

His professional memberships include the Indiana Academy of Science, Indiana Chapter of the American Fisheries Society and NAWQUA.

He is a senior author to the Indiana Lake Classification System and Management Plan and a member of the NAWQUA Advisory Committee in Indiana.
